Peretū / Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands
Experience the best of Auckland’s treasured Hauraki Gulf on a guided e-Mountain Bike adventure across two of its most extraordinary islands – Rangitoto and Motutapu.
Explore Rangitoto, Auckland’s largest volcanic cone and New Zealand’s youngest island, and discover dramatic coastal and volcanic landscapes, rugged solidified lava fields and lava tubes, regenerating and mature native forest including the world’s largest pōhutukawa forest, endemic birdlife and spectacular city and sea views. Then journey across Motutapu, one of the oldest and most culturally significant islands in the Hauraki Gulf, rich in Māori heritage, idyllic bays and expansive views of the Hauraki Gulf and islands.
This small group guided tour combines the fun of e-Mountain Biking with natural heritage, cultural connection and breathtaking scenery. Along the way, our accredited kaiārahi (guide) will share knowledge and stories of the geology, ecology, native plant and birdlife, colourful history and Māori cultural heritage and mythology of these islands.
Owned and operated by Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, Auckland’s original Māori inhabitant iwi (tribe) and tangata whenua (people of the land) of these islands, this is more than an e-Mountain Bike tour. This authentic and engaging guided tour gives you the opportunity to experience Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands through the dramatic landscapes, unique nature, fascinating stories and authentic perspectives of the people who know them deeply, making this one of Auckland’s most unique adventures.
